Japanese politician Ichiro Ozawa will leave the ruling Democratic Party of Japan along with 51 other lawmakers in response to the government's plan to double consumption tax to 10% by 2015, according to reports Monday. The ruling party will retain its majority in the 480-member lower house of the parliament even after the defections, the reports said. Forty members from the lower house and 12 from the upper house will leave the DPJ, Reuters reported, citing an aide of Ozawa.
