Police said that the women, identified as Choo Czek Yeng, was earlier seen standing along the railing at about 10am and suddenly fell over before slaming into the ground floor.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainuddin Ahmad said there were no other physical injuries found on the body of the deceased.
Initial investigations revealed there were no CCTV recordings of the incident.
An official from the mall, who declined to be named, said that the management does not have much information about what transpired.
“No comments. We are all leaving it to the police as they are investigating the case. I’m really sorry,” she said.
Twitter was abuzz since morning with the incident since morning as Twitter handlers circulated a picture believed to be that of the deceased.
There were tweets of condolences and those who urged the public to stop joking about the death.
